2019 – Motherly Intercession – Pathways to Employment MNA

There are approximately 45,000 children in Genesee County who have a mother or father who is currently or has been incarcerated. Parental incarceration negatively impacts a child's life, impacting their well-being and eroding the family structure. As a VISTA serving with Motherly Intercession, you would fight back against these deleterious effects, and help provide children with the education and job skills they need to succeed against the enormous odds stacked up against them. You would work with their Reading and Counting to Success PLUS (RACS+) and N-Touch Ready to Work (NTRTW) programs to increase student success, by recruiting volunteers, writing press releases, and seeking funds. Thirty-nine percent of Flint residents live below the poverty line, with issues like the water crisis, incarceration, and high unemployment harming outcomes for Flint's children. Help provide them with the opportunities they need to earn a good education and meaningful employment with Motherly Intercession.
