Hear Their Voices: Interpretation Services for Refugees and Immigrants is part of Iowa International Center’s programs aimed at removing language barriers for non-English speaking refugees and immigrants. Hear Their Voices is a new program that offers free interpretation services to low- and moderate-income refugees and immigrants through in-person appointments, free interpretation hotline for first responders/crisis personnel, and a second interpretation hotline to assist landlords and tenants with housing issues. The program will also include written translation services benefitting the community. Hear Their Voices extends to collaborative, community-wide initiatives involving multiple partners, and where initiatives benefit the larger non-English speaking community. The Hear their Voices Program Coordinator VISTA works extensively with other community-based programs. The goal for this position is to build capacity around this new program area, including process and policy development, scheduling/protocols, data management, resource development, community outreach/education, and partner engagement.
