Campus Compact VISTA - Regis College, MA
 
 
 
The VISTA project at Regis College is a K-12 success partnership with Bethany Hill Place in Framingham, MA. The VISTA is being leveraged to 1) expand and strengthen existing programing of educational success for Bethany Hill Place children, K-12; 2) develop college awareness and access opportunities for low-income, first-generation BHP students and their families; 3) research and develop additional programs, as well as volunteer support to enhance educational success outside the classroom. The partnership will benefit the nearly 50 families living at Bethany Hill Place, all of whom are low income, and living in subsidized or emergency housing on the premises, a majority of whom have experienced homelessness, many of whom are dealing with recovery from substance abuse, while managing mental illness and various disabilities. The VISTA will recruit and train volunteers from the Regis community for the Bethany Hill Place Home-work Club, Summer Camp as well as to working to develop leadership from within the BHP community to assess and address needs of the community The biweekly living allowance for this position is $829.36 in Middlesex County. MA. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide the following: full meal plan, campus housing, fitness center pass, and professional development opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at Regis College will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps. Serving as a part of the Campus Compact VISTA corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with corps members throughout multiple states, to create a network of support, and to share resources. Campus Compact supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings throughout their service year. Member Duties : The VISTA serves as the liaison between the college and Bethany Hill School; enhancing the campus’ commitment to develop effective and sustainable partnership efforts. The VISTA will meet regularly with the Bethany Hill School staff and develop tools to access the needs of the community. Develop and organize a mechanism to recruit, train, place, and track Regis College students for service opportunities at Bethany Hill Place. Assist Bethany Hill Place Administrators in the development and maintenance of data concerning volunteers, and the number of targeted local business and regional businesses. Develop a strategic plan to help Bethany Hill Place become a more recognized community within the Boston Metro West area for potential business support. The VISTA will also build capacity for student clubs, organizations, athletic teams and academic programs to volunteers and be placed with Bethany Hill and other partners in the community.
