EmPower Place is a child and family learning center that is co-located with our local food bank, and host families and kids of diverse backgrounds. We are looking for someone who is fun, engaging, innovative, and open. Individuals who enjoy engaging with children and their caregivers on a personal level will enjoy this space and role. We are seeking someone who is flexible, adaptable, and willing to grow personally and professionally with us as an organization. An understanding of and willingness to learn more about systemic inequities and the causal issues that result in food insecurity will be important to the success of this position. Missoula Food Bank and Community Center is an anti-racist, LGBTQ2S+ ally organization. Those who are BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, and/or living with a disability are strongly encouraged to apply.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps College Coach will help facilitate and lead our weekly ‘Leadership League’ programming aimed towards building leadership skills with those 9+. Create innovative programming geared towards helping youth make meaningful impacts in their community. Host weekly middle school and high school academic mentoring. Support high school students in finding scholarships and assist in guiding them through the college application process. Create partnerships with BIPOC groups/individuals/organizations in Missoula to come into our space to help be a part of our programming. The member will take part and lead cooking classes as part of a weekly cooking club. Teach about the importance of good nutrition and basic cooking skills to youth. Help manage our garden space and gardening lessons.
