2019-2020 Restore Resource Development VISTA

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build hope, communities and homes. DuPage Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We build homes that are sold to qualifying families with a price structure so that no more than 30% of their household income is used for their mortgage payment. DuPage Habitat is in the midst of substantial growth and development. We are a midsized affiliate serving over 40 families per year and we have an aggressive growth plan that will continue to increase the number of families. This includes growing our 2 ReStores, with an eye on future expansion. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. The are many goals of this position: 1) Develop, implement, and document sustainable marketing and outreach strategies that ultimately contribute towards an increase in numbers of store purchases and donations from both companies and individuals. An increase in unrestricted revenue will in turn enable the affiliate to serve more families and communities. 2) Work with our Volunteer staff to develop and implement a ReStore volunteer recruitment, training and recognition program. Volunteers at the ReStore are able to assist with a variety of or day-to-day duties and have significant cost savings for the affiliate. 3) Work with affiliate staff to maintain and improve a targeted digital marketing strategy for attracting new segments of customers.

Member Duties : 1. Research, develop and implement ReStore marketing plans focused on increasing community awareness of ReStore operations and bringing in identified segments of customers. Research local news outlets, including print, media and online for ReStore promotion. Track results and create metrics for showing improvement. 2. Research local businesses and community partners that would be ideal recurring donors or volunteers for the ReStore. Support outreach to these donors. Encourage and build relationships with existing donors. 3. Research and develop standard communications/marketing plan and touch points to engage new partners/collaborators. 4. Research funding opportunities that support volunteer engagement and store development. 5. Work with staff to develop volutneer recruitment, training and retention program – ensure all staff members in the ReStore are trained in how their role impacts volunteer opportunties.
