Native Food Sovereignty SA - BFT

The goal of the project is to develop a cohort of 21 VISTA members and 7 Summer Associates placed in 16 sites throughout Indian Country. The VISTA members will work on the intersection of two key areas: Healthy Food Access and Economic Development in Food and Agriculture. The role of Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative is to provide administrative support, training, technical assistance, and general support to all of the 21 VISTA members in the cohort. The VISTA members are being named Native Food Sovereignty Fellows and their work will be elevated nationally, and informed by the work they do at the local level to assist Tribes to enhance food sovereignty and stronger economic development, that includes food and agriculture. Summer Associates will further strengthen the NFSF Program's ability to support additional staffing capacity and build agricultural infrastructure to meet the needs of current and future tribal members.
