University of Miami - Resilience Coordinator (FSU)
 
 
 
Over 50% of residents in the Miami area are cost-burdened renters according to recent data collected. The University of Miami Office of Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) will engage the VISTA member in collaborating with local stakeholders to identify creative design and policy solutions to increase Miami's adaptive capacity, while building new networks to strengthen urban resiliency. Specifically CCE, its partners, and the VISTA member will study solutions to develop comprehensive and expert-guided resilience strategies for retro-fitting existing housing in low-income areas, and taking into account their relative costs for implementation.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will assist with a series of affordable housing/community development programs that will leverage the academic resources of UM in support of innovative solutions for adaptation, mitigation, and resilience of the affordable housing stock in Miami. Duties include: Assisting with planning and organizing public forums and convening of stakeholders/Coordinating and promoting community events/Assist staff in identifying community needs/Research and identify assessment models and create template/Implement created assessment tool with partners
