KRM Mentor Engagement Coordinator VISTA

The KRM Mentor Engagement Coordinator VISTA will focus on recruiting, training and supporting volunteers interested in engaging with newly arrived refugees and immigrants through the KRM New Beginnings Tutor/Mentor Program and Adult Cultural Exchange Program. This programming will help empower participants to rise out of poverty through volunteer engagement that supports reduced isolation, which has been particularly pronounced during the COVID-19 pandemic, community orientation, digital literacy, and improved self-sufficiency and integration outcomes. This project will refine, grow and promote the cultural exchange and mentoring programming for participants in need of social and community engagement and adjustment support. The VISTA will work with agency staff on plans for transitioning programming from virtual to in-person interaction as well as provide ongoing support for tutor/mentors through sustained communication and professional development opportunities which include a new focus on digital literacy and inclusion. Additionally, in collaboration with agency staff, the VISTA will ensure that the mentor programs remain sustainable after their term is completed.

Member Duties : The KRM Mentor Engagement Coordinator VISTA will engage in the following activities during their term: community outreach and volunteer training to increase mentorship effectiveness, evaluation of the programs’ placement process to improve the quality of mentor/mentee matches, ongoing communication to ensure program efficiency, use of evaluation tools to measure positive program outcomes, creation and implementation of professional development opportunities for mentors which includes digital literacy and cultural competency trainings, and, in conjunction with KRM staff, the development of a plan for reopening in-person programming and plans for the continuation of the programs past the end of the VISTA’s term.
