2019 – WMCAT – Pathways to Employment MNA VISTA

The West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology (WMCAT) in Grand Rapids, Michigan provides a culture of opportunity for people to make social and economic progress in their lives and community. As our VISTA, you will directly assist in WMCAT’s work to provide equitable access to opportunity by creating a volunteer and intern program to support our two tuition-free programs: an adult career training program that prepares under and unemployed men and women for living wage careers in medical technology, and an after-school teen arts and technology program that connects Grand Rapids Public high school students to creativity, community, and post-secondary opportunities. Last year, 85% of graduates from the Adult Career Training Program were placed in a career in their field within six months of graduation; and 100% of graduating high school seniors in the Teen Arts + Tech Program applied to post-secondary programs. You’ll help expand the capacity of these programs through a robust volunteer management system to create deeper community impact and increase sustainability.
