2019 – Mott Comm. College ReMix – Pathways to Employment MNA
 
 
 
A recent report on Opportunity Youth (ages 16-24) estimated that there were nearly 10,000 young people in Genesee County who were not in school, not employed, and had little connection with their family and community. The ReMix Resource Center aims to change that, and get youth re-engaged with their community through matching youth with the resources, training, and empowerment they need to find success. As a VISTA serving with Mott Community College (MCC) and the ReMix Center, you will help convene more than 60 local service providers to identify strategies and collaborate with individuals from across the United States to re-engage these youth. You will facilitate recruitment, informational workshops, and coordinate job coaching sessions with staff. You will also provide follow-up, tracking, and data entry to ensure that the program is successful. Help contribute to the revitalization of Flint and help youth build the self-sufficiency they require in the modern workforce.

Member Duties : • Recruit disconnected youth in Genesee County. • Promote the ReMix Center through outreach efforts including social and traditional media. • Develop and pilot skill building workshops to promote employability skills for youth. • Coordinate meetings with the Training Coordinator and Job Development Specialist for youth. • Record and report program data through pre- and post-surveys for participants. • Establish relationships with local organizations that service the target population.
