2019 – MCAN – Pathways to Employment MNA VISTA

Michigan has a leaky post-secondary pipeline; for every 100 Michigan 9th graders, 73 graduate high school on time; 45 of those 73 will enter college within 12 months of high school graduation; 32 of the 45 are still enrolled in college by their sophomore year; and only 18 of those will graduate with a college degree within six years. Not pursuing post-secondary options not only has lasting consequences for students, but for the state of Michigan and the country as a whole. The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) works state-wide to advance degree and credential attainment in collaboration with various organizations and, as a VISTA serving with MCAN, you would be on the forefront of expanding MCAN's services into where they are needed most, low-income areas across the state. You will perform outreach, assist in the mapping of educational outcome data, and support the expansion and delivery of professional development opportunities in targeted areas along with other activities. Your efforts will amplify MCAN's efforts where they are needed most, and have a direct impact on post-secondary attainment in the state of Michigan. Help us reach 60% degree or certification attainment by 2025!
