2019 – Friends in Deed – Pathways to Employment MNA VISTA

As our VISTA with Friends in Deed (FID), you’ll work to expand and evaluate their Circles and Transportation Assistance program, as well as build capacity to improve economic opportunity for those living in poverty in Washtenaw County. The Circles program lifts people out of poverty by matching low-income heads-of-household (Leaders) with higher-income mentors to collaborate for 18 months, helping the Leaders achieve economic independence for their families. FID's Transportation Assistance program helps low-income residents cover the cost of car repair, registration, or insurance during budget shortfalls and passes on donated cars to residents struggling to reach their place of employment. As a VISTA serving with FID, you will closely work with both of these programs to increase their impact by developing partnerships, improving recruitment processes, expanding services, and more. By finding additional resources and developing relationships you will allow FID to take a holistic approach to assisting their clients in meeting their financial goals, bringing them out of poverty.
