Member Duties : Mornings will be spent in small class sessions learning about the law through the lens of subjects already of interest to them. For example, NBA contract negotiations can be used as an avenue to learn about employment law, mediation, and negotiation skills and be of interest to community youth. Popular young adult fiction about dystopian futures can be used to discuss constitutional rights and democracy. After lunch and another hour in session, youth will alternate between tours of law-related workplaces in Anchorage (e.g., state and federal courts, FBI, state crime lab, Anchorage Police Department) or various recreational opportunities (e.g., kayaking, hiking, basketball). Friday afternoons will be dedicated to participants teaching each other about what they are learning in creative ways.
