HJH - Volunteer Engagement Specialist VISTA – (MAVA)

Hope for the Journey Home (HJH) is a seven bed family shelter in Washington Co. and suburban Ramsey County in Oakdale, MN, neighboring St. Paul, MN. Families are referred to HJH through St. Andrews Community Resource Center where they receive case management services in seeking permanent housing, employment services and other needs related to secure stabilized housing. HJH seeks to provide a safe supportive environment until the families’ situation changes. HJH relies on volunteer efforts and community participation from a variety of organizations and faith based partnerships. A volunteer coordinator from each partnering faith community or organization is responsible for recruiting volunteers and for promoting the needs and vision of Hope for the Journey Home’s mission. The VISTA member will increase the volunteer capacity of Hope for the Journey Home by building recruitment partnerships, developing effective training curriculum and improving data collection processes in order to serve our mission of transitioning families from homelessness to housing.
