2019 Construction Site Host

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build hope, communities and homes. We would like to increase volunteer engagement of all ages! The Construction Site Host will be in charge of running a plethora of brand new summer programs geared towards youth, new adult volunteer recruits, and new homeowner applicants. The Construction Site Host will run brand new workshops at local libraries about advocacy and homeownership to teach local residents about how to be a better homeowner and how to ensure that others have the opportunity to do so as well. We currently cannot accommodate most kids under 16 and virtually no kids under 14 so this person would help us to change that! This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : The Construction Site Host will be performing three main functions. First, they will ensure there are enough volunteers and supervision from the Crew Leaders for each build day. Second, they will help to grow the volunteer department. The member will collect detailed information on who is and who is not volunteering. This helps the affiliate to apply for additional grants as well as helps us to build upon what we do well and reach out to who is not volunteering. Third, they will be one of the front line faces to advance our partnerships with youth and youth groups.
