2019 Youth Program Associate

The mission of Centro Romero is to empower those with the fewest options in the immigrant and refugee community by developing and strengthening the family unit, fostering community leadership and providing quality social and adjustment services. Centro Romero is a community-based organization that has been serving the low-income Latino immigrant and refugee community on the northeast side of Chicago for 35 years. The VISTA Summer Associate will increase the program capacity to provide expanded and more in-depth services to youth program participants and help them to achieve better outcomes. The goal is to help youth to be better prepared for high school, college, and beyond. The project will increase our ability to fight poverty by the empowering tools of education and information for the two VISTA Summer Associates and mentoring them in experiential knowledge about youth programming. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
