2019-2020 Development & Communications VISTA

Facing Forward ends homelessness for families and individuals by offering hope, help, and housing.We serve those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of homelessness, providing safe, stable housing with no pre-determined end date and clinical case management services designed to increase self-sufficiency and empower long-term stability and growth. Facing Forward provides permanent housing, education, advocacy, and social services. The goal of the one-year VISTA term will be to grow Facing Forward’s support base and community partnerships while enhancing the organization’s reputation and visibility as a leading provider of Permanent Supportive Housing in Chicago. Increasing support for Facing Forward will strengthen our programming and client outcomes through new and strengthened service partnerships and in-kind support, as well as build our program capacity through increased donor revenue. This will allow us to end homelessness for more of Chicago’s most vulnerable individuals and families through safe, stable housing and clinical case management services designed to increase self-sufficiency and empower long-term stability and growth. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : Working with the Development Office, evaluate, organize, and lead volunteer/educational opportunities, and identify areas for improvement. Generate content for various platforms (LinkedIn, MailChimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to engage existing and potential supporters of Facing Forward around relevant topics, such as: The issue of homelessness in the US Responses to homelessness in our community Facing Forward’s vision, model, services, outcomes, and client stories Specific needs and engagement opportunities at Facing Forward Engage supporters via 4 quarterly organization newsletters. Maintain consistent and up-to-date messaging and resources for Facing Forward’s constituents (collateral and website) Increase Facing Forward donor engagement by successfully implementing a minimum of 5 fundraising campaigns and/or events. Develop at least 5 new partnerships to provide services and/or in-kind support for Facing Forward’s programming.
