*MTCC AmeriCorps Leader - Broader Impacts Group

The Broader Impacts Group (BIG) is a family of high-impact organizations that collectively engage over 200,000 people annually through the spectrum Discovery Area, We Are Montana in the Classroom, and innovateUM. Many students across Montana do not have access to hands-on science education and opportunities to learn about STEM and higher education, and The Broader Impacts Group works to increase STEM literacy and passion in Montana youth through supplemental education, with the ultimate goal of inspiring K-12 students to pursue higher education, especially at the University of Montana. These efforts are supported by an array of local and national funding sources, including the National Science Foundation, Montana NSF EPSCoR, NASA, the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Jane S. Heman Foundation and the Martin Family Foundation. Engage Montana’s next generation of scientists and leaders in hands-on science. The Broader Impacts AmeriCorps Leader will engage in hands-on science activities with the visiting public during hours at the University of Montana Empower Place in the Missoula Food Bank. Many students in Missoula and across Montana do not have access to hands-on science education or opportunities to learn about higher education and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
