2019-2020 Organizing & Communications Coach
 
 
 
Center for Changing Lives’ (CCL’s) mission is to partner with those held back by a lack of resource and economic opportunity in order to uncover possibilities, overcome barriers, and realize their potential. Working with CCL staff and leadership, the VISTA will lead communications and organizing. The VISTA will: 1. Conduct research for CCL’s efforts to educate the public and elected officials and enhance organizing of members for events and public education. 2. Recruit and maintain volunteers, and implement and lead a Member Advisory Board, ensuring that CCL members have greater stake and ownership in CCL’s workforce, financial, resource, and advocacy programming. Additionally, this VISTA will create social media content, newsletters, and other related tasks. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : Policy research regarding housing, consumer protections, and the decriminalization of people of color. Develop and lead CCL’s Member Advisory Board; Enhance CCL’s organizational communications. Fine-tune the volunteer recruitment and retention strategy to ensure that CCL volunteers are trained, utilized, and maintained as partners in the CCL community.
