2019-2020 Diversion Program Coordinator VISTA

All Chicago Making Homelessness History (All Chicago) prevents and ends homelessness through four signature approaches. Our Emergency financial Assistance approach provides short-term funding to people experiencing an emergency that could lead to homelessness or other crises. Our Community Partnerships approach provides the backbone of a city-wide response to homelessness by partnering with over 40 organizations and leading them through a year-round research, evaluation, strategic planning, and federal funding application process. Our Data Analytics approach collects and analyzes data through the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), driving our community's response to homelessness. Our Training and Research approach provides trainings, workshops, research, and analysis to help our partners apply proven strategies to prevent and end homelessness even more effectively. All Chicago works to prevent and end homelessness through emergency financial assistance, community partnerships, data collection and analysis, and training and research. The Chicago Continuum of Care has identified a need to expand services that divert individuals away from the homelessness system, helping them either to exit homelessness or prevent entry into homelessness. The Diversion Program Coordinator VISTA will coordinate capacity-building activities to improve and expand SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR), Eviction Diversion, and access to employment resources, thus allowing vulnerable individuals to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
