WeCAN - Volunteer Coordination VISTA (MAVA)

WeCAN is a small community nonprofit that provides a big impact through support services that empower individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency. Our service area includes 12 cities in far western Hennepin County on the beautiful shores of Lake Minnetonka. WeCAN serves struggling, low income individuals and families by providing food, emergency housing assistance, and support services like school supplies, holiday and birthday gifts, winter gear and more. We provide a critical ‘safety net’ for residents who may encounter a crisis such as a layoff, a family member with a sudden illness, or inability to consistently access nutritious food. Our programs evolve to meet the needs of our clients and the communities we serve and you can help us continue to innovate by developing a comprehensive volunteer management system to effectively engage, support, recognize and manage volunteers and harness their passion, skills and experience to combat hunger and poverty. This is a fantastic experience for someone looking to be part of a small social services agency that individually tailors services to meet clients where they are at. We encourage professional development/continuing education and will support you through your VISTA year with WeCAN. Additionally, WeCAN will provide a monthly $25 gas card to our VISTA member. For more information visit our website at www.wecanmn.org. Please send resume and cover letter to Sami Smetana at associatedirector@wecanmn.org. We hope to have you join our team!
