ShreveCorps

This school year, ShreveCorps members will work together toward the common goal of improving the quality of life for families in food deserts, low-income neighborhoods where access to fresh foods is limited. ShreveCorps members will serve from October 2019 to May 2020, completing a minimum of 300 service hours in that time. Together, they will teach children ages 7-11 about healthy eating through games, songs, science experiments, cooking, and gardening activities. They will create, expand, and maintain community gardens. No experience is required to be an excellent ShreveCorps member. The ideal ShreveCorps member will demonstrate a positive attitude, commitment to community service, and pride in their ShreveCorps and AmeriCorps membership! They will work as a member of a team with individuals from diverse backgrounds. They will communicate patiently, politely, and effectively with both adults and children and learn and progress toward becoming a self-sufficient gardener and community educator.
