Strategic Growth and Partnership Coordinator

Families First is a non-profit parenting education organization serving families in Greater Boston and surrounding communities for over 30 years. Our mission is to bring parents of young children together in their communities to strengthen their parenting knowledge, skills, and support systems. We help parents navigate diverse parenting challenges and build strong parent-child relationships. In addition, we connect parents with leadership opportunities and other resources. Families First’s office is located just outside of Boston in Watertown. We have free parking and are accessible by public transit. Programs are held at partner sites throughout the city and are now moving into new communities. Our location provides a convenient space to coordinate the work. Families First is at an exciting stage of growth. This VISTA member will work alongside the Director of Programming and support the organization as we prepare for expansion in Boston and a new region. As a small nonprofit, we provide a unique learning environment where the VISTA can experience growth and change. Training/networking opportunities are available. Tasks for this position include researching new communities, connecting with partners to identify resources, developing a plan to bring parent leadership to a new region, and documenting expansion activities. The VISTA will have strong attention to detail, time management skills, and be a critical thinker. S/he will have strong communication skills, be able to work independently and in a team, and be comfortable working with various cultures. Microsoft Office proficiency is required. A vehicle is recommended for this position. The VISTA member’s base will be in Watertown but travel to meetings several times a week are likely, primarily to the North Shore. Mileage and parking reimbursement will be provided for service-related travel. Project dates are 7/22/19 – 7/20/20. For more information, email aallison@families-first.org.
