'20-'21 Youth Programs/Agency Systems VISTA-GCBH VISTA-MHAGC
 
 
 
Are you ready to fight poverty and make a huge and lasting impact on the lives of residents of Upstate South Carolina? For over 64 years, Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) has been positively impacting mental health across the region. Recent assessments of low-income adults indicate that limited access to mental health services and the growing opioid epidemic are two of the greatest concerns in the county. The Youth Programming & Agency Sustainability VISTA will focus on supporting the organization's strategic planning and plan implementation processes wile also strengthening the organization's communication, outreach, and prevention processes for younger populations. This individual will work to grow and document processes associated with a teen training board, in which student leaders from across the county learn about substance use disorders and other behavioral health conditions in order to be agents of sustainable change in their school communities. Greenville, South Carolina continues to receive national and international recognition for its southern charm, opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, arts scene, sports culture, and cuisine. Greenville has been lauded by The New York Times as one of the 52 cities in the world to visit, by USA Today as one of the ten best emerging destinations, and as one of America’s ten best downtowns for its combination of revitalized commercial and park space. Greenville is located at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. **This position is eligible for an annual housing stipend of $600 paid to the landlord monthly/quarterly and for a membership to a specific gym facility.

Member Duties : This member will build organizational capacity by assessing and documenting current agency processes and systems and working with leadership to implement recommendations to make operations more efficient and sustainable. He/she will support the organization's strategic planning efforts and the resulting year-to-year action plans. This individual also works to build the capacity of the agency's programs aimed at pre-teen/teen substance use disorder prevention and ensuring that the agency is increasing access to mental health care; these services include the new TEENS4Hope Greenville County Behavioral Health Board, the 24/7 TEENline hotline service, and educational programming aimed at youth and teens. This individual documents the organization’s internal planning processes; collaborates with community partners that serve youth; and works with members to expand the teen-driven TEENS4Hope Board.
