Economic & Community Development Institute Summer Associate
Founded in 2004, the Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit economic development organization headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with satellite offices in Cleveland, Akron, and Cincinnati; and field operations in Toledo and Canton. ECDI’s mission is to invest in people to create measurable and enduring social and economic change. ECDI’s Northern Ohio project seeks to build the capacity of ECDI Incubation and Training Programs, offered through the Women’s Business Center (WBC) and ECDI lending, to assist low-to-moderate income (LMI) individuals, women, minorities, refugees, and other disadvantaged entrepreneurs create small businesses and jobs. ECDI accomplishes this mission by providing a suite of wrap-around entrepreneurship-specific services that include: mentorship programs, technical assistance, training, professional amenities, co-working space, and loan capital to current and aspiring entrepreneurs in the areas we serve. By assisting underserved entrepreneurs looking to start and grow their businesses, ECDI creates opportunities for job creation, which helps bring individuals into the economic mainstream.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will work with ECDI and the Women’s Business Center (WBC) of Northern Ohio to help small business owners expand their businesses and create more jobs. The Summer Associate will research and develop a marketing/branding tool-kit for food-based industry clients to improve their marketing strategies and broaden their reach in order to increase their assets. The Summer Associate will analyze, research, and help expand current Start Here Grow Here workshops. They will also research new topics, helping to develop and implement new Start Here Grow Here workshops to provide entrepreneurs with expert trainings that will help them grow their businesses.
