PHENND Fellows - Nonprofit Track - SEAMAAC

SEAMAAC stands as one of the oldest and largest refugee-founded agencies in the Philadelphia region with a workforce of over 80% bi/multi-lingual staff serving constituencies from as many as 18 distinct linguistic communities. Since 1984, SEAMAAC has brought crucially needed support to tens of thousands of families in the Philadelphia area. Its Mifflin Square Park and Neighborhood Planning and Organizing Project is to build community power and prosperity by improving and implementing the physical and operational changes for Mifflin Square Park. Its Vendor Village Program and SoPhiE (South Philly East) food truck aim to support local entrepreneurs and build a vibrant Mifflin Square Park. The goal is to create a stronger local economy within our diverse community that also connects to the adjacent commercial corridor. ENND Fellows is a program that fosters young non-profit leaders who seek to expand the infrastructure for community partnership development across Philadelphia. Through its Nonprofit Track, it places passionate and talented college graduates at local non-profits as AmeriCorps VISTA members. This track has a three-fold mission: (1) Support local nonprofits fighting poverty across a wide range of issues, (2) Train and retain local talent to stay and work in Philadelphia, and (3) Develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders. During the 2019-2020 program year, 35 PHENND Fellows will actively build capacity in local organizations and participate in extensive professional development as a cohort. This program is run by PHENND (The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development), a 30-year-old consortium of over 25 colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia region. The consortium actively seeks to revitalize local communities and promote civic responsibility through service learning among the region's higher education institutions. If you want to help build sustainable solutions in Philadelphia, please apply.

Member Duties : SEAMAAC's VISTA goal is to build better systems to improve SEAMAAC's reach for clients, customers, and employers, and improve the effectiveness of its programming, especially for the Mifflin Square Park and SoPhie Food Truck projects. The Fellow will help build a better application intake and matching system for job referrals in pursuit of more and better jobs for clients. The VISTA will document and help us to run the food truck efficiently by better analyzing our impact. In this second year, the PHENND Fellow will 1) Add 20 more clients to employment at family-sustaining jobs; 2) Build sales and sustainability of the SoPhiE (South Philly East) Food Truck, and 3) Build SEAMAAC's capacity to reach more people and awareness through social media.
