PHENND Fellows - Nonprofit Track - JEVS Human Services

At JEVS Human Services, we believe in giving people possibilities—opportunities to be self-sufficient and satisfied. Each year we touch nearly 30,000 lives, focusing on individuals with physical, developmental, and emotional challenges as well as those facing adverse socio-economic conditions including unemployment and underemployment. Since our inception, JEVS Human Services has been committed to the Jewish principles of Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam. Tzedakah refers to the religious obligation to ‘do what is right and just’ and is also the Hebrew word for ‘charity.’ Tikkun Olam is also a Hebrew phrase for ‘repairing the world.’ PHENND Fellows is a program that fosters young non-profit leaders who seek to expand the infrastructure for community partnership development across Philadelphia. Through its Nonprofit Track, it places passionate and talented college graduates at local non-profits as AmeriCorps VISTA members. This track has a three-fold mission: (1) Support local nonprofits fighting poverty across a wide range of issues, (2) Train and retain local talent to stay and work in Philadelphia, and (3) Develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders. During the 2019-2020 program year, 35 PHENND Fellows will actively build capacity in local organizations and participate in extensive professional development as a cohort. This program is run by PHENND (The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development), a 30-year-old consortium of over 25 colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia region. The consortium actively seeks to revitalize local communities and promote civic responsibility through service learning among the region's higher education institutions. If you want to help build sustainable solutions in Philadelphia, please apply.
