Northfield Community College - Program Development (MLC)

The Northfield Community College Collaborative (NCCC), located in historic downtown Northfield, aims to provide accessible postsecondary options for local youth by removing barriers and offering support through increasing access to resources. Of our current students, 88% are minority, low-income and first-generation college students. The NCCC seeks to improve postsecondary retention and completion rates, and, thus, post-graduation career opportunities, by tailoring a postsecondary experience to those students who would otherwise be unable to persevere. A Literacy Leader at the NCCC would serve an integral part of our endeavors to build our capacity and framework with which to serve students in poverty. The Literacy Leader will help create a sustainable and robust tutoring program to help make sure our students are successful in their college classes. They would assist in data tracking and organization and analysis of information that is integral to the sustainability of the NCCC, and by doing so, would allow the NCCC staff to focus further on academic advising. The Literacy Leader will engage with Riverland Community College and Workforce Development, Inc., among other partners, to build relationships that will result in a deeper pool of resources for students to access. LOOKING FOR: Preferred applicants will have the eagerness to serve a unique population, be creative in community engagement, speak Spanish, and have the ability to work hard. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Free seasonal produce through a local farm CSA in summer and fall, and training and professional development funds. NCCC has a close partnership with the Community Action Center to assist in securing discounted housing for the VISTA. There are also opportunities for free meals in our community.
