Organizations Development Coord., Latino Affairs Commission
 
 
 
The Latino Affairs Commission is a state agency mandated to advise the Governor & Legislature on issues impacting Latinos, to connect Latinos & serving organizations & to build capacity & leadership opportunities. This project seeks to increase the presence, recognition & impact of the Latino Affairs Commission as it serves Hispanic Ohioans. By empowering Latino grassroots organizations and leaders to improve their performance and capacity, they will be able to provide improved services to help Latinos decrease their level of poverty, acquire more information, knowledge and prosperity. Latino serving organizations are working towards sustainability and seek social enterprising opportunities to build their ability to serve. This project will enhance community leadership & support for grassroots organizations, and it will conduct research, implement and promote training programs to increase organizations’ ability to meet the needs of the Hispanic/Latino community. The Organizations Development Coordinator will enhance the work of Latino Networking Groups in different regions in Ohio and identify key affinity areas where training and best practices can be shared. This individual will also improve existing workforce development initiatives, boost participation of the Ohio Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Network and the Latino Connection Network. Additionally, the Coordinator will promote organizations’ engagement with Agenda Latina, the Latino Education Summit and Latino Health Summit. The Coordinator will disseminate relevant grant and training opportunities via electronic campaigns and social media to increase the access to funding and capacity building among Latino serving organizations.

Member Duties : Improve the work of Latino grassroots organizations and leadership development initiatives 1) Identify data to support the organizations daily performance 2) Research & prepare materials for workshops, webinars 3) enhance relevant information for grassroots organizations to be shared via website & social media networks 4) Promote strategies to improve workforce & economic development efforts by the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce & Latino grassroots organizations 5) Participate and promote participation in workshops on leadership & organizational development 6) Revamp & promote networking meetings, including audience building and tracking 7) Research funding opportunities & assist with grant writing for Latino serving organizations. 8) Develop ideas for e-campaigns & databases, nurture communications, explore collaboration & share best practices 8) Encourage participation & build audience for the Ohio Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, Ohio Latino Connection & Agenda Latina.
