The Healthy Out-Of-School Time Initiative

The Healthy Out-of-School Time (HOST) Initiative will focus on obesity prevention through nutrition education and the promotion of physical activity, while providing an opportunity to engage in safe afterschool programming. This program will address these issues at approximately 52 out-of-school-time (OST) sites located throughout Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, including some of the most vulnerable sections of the city, such as Upper and Lower North Philadelphia, Olney/Oak Lane, and River Wards, all of which are located in North Philadelphia. The position will help strengthen HPC’s relationships with our current 52 HOST sites. The VISTA will work to build capacity of HPC to deliver trainings and offer individualized technical assistance to our sites. The VISTA will also bring additional ideas to the program and increase HPC’s ability to work intensively with our current sites to improve the lives of students, families and their communities.
