College Health Corps, Open Door Health Center

Open Door Health Center (ODHC) is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center with a mission of advancing access to quality, affordable, culturally appropriate care through collaborative, patient-centered medical, dental, and behavioral health services for all people across southern Minnesota. Our primary and preventive care services are uniquely targeted toward low-income, underserved individuals. The VISTA will work with individuals both within and outside the organization for the purpose of developing and strengthening initiatives aimed at increasing access to our primary and preventative care services. The VISTA will also work closely with ODHC’s Enrollment Department which assists individuals in exploring options in, and gaining access to, health insurance coverage through the MNsure Health insurance marketplace—including renewals and follow-up for Federal, State, and private insurance plans. Additionally, the VISTA will work closely with the Outreach Coordinator to increase program stability through providing community feedback to ODHC leadership, developing systems to increase task efficiency and effectiveness, and researching potential funding sources to meet the needs caused by defined financial constraints. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
