Arizona Serve GEM Environmental STEM Internship Coordinator

G.E.M. Environmental provides unique educational opportunities for under-represented STEM students including paid internships, scholarships, field experience, and vocational training. Through G.E.M. Environmental’s hands-on programs students can envision new educational goals, cultivate relationships with industry professionals, and develop greater confidence. G.E.M. Environmental is initiating a new Scientific Speaker Series, where Prescott-area STEM professionals can connect with schools and community organizations to get excited by STEM careers. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will develop G.E.M. Environmental’s speaker series and our field experience database to access more middle school, high school, and college students.

Member Duties : A. Create a speaker database and calendar: The VISTA will identify and connect with scientific professionals in Northern Arizona that are interested supporting the Scientific Speaker Series. The VISTA will also identify and connect with schools and community organizations that can benefit from the series. The member will create a database and calendar system that can facilitate connecting speakers to community organizations. B. Research and Catalog field experiences: The VISTA will identify and conduct site visits at Prescott-area locations that can potentially offer a field experience to students. Sites will then be added into the G.E.M. Calendar system. C. Outreach: The VISTA will identify students and community stakeholders that can benefit from a field experience or other STEM educational opportunity. The VISTA will create a database that can effectively match these individuals to G.E.M. Environmental services.

Program Benefits : Relocation Allowance , Childcare assistance if eligible , Stipend , Health Coverage* , Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend , Housing , $100 Per Month Housing Stipend .
