The AmeriCorps member will learn and participate in the role of Deaf Community Services Assistant (DCSA) and will be a member of the Deaf Access Services team involved with outreach and human services to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities in WNY. The DCSA will serve under the daily guidance of the Community Services Navigator and will meet from time to time with the Director in order to have exposure to the organizational leadership. Generally, service duties will be conducted during daytime hours but on occasion there may be evening or weekend expectations, particularly related to community outreach. There is a goal to develop and operationalize a Deaf volunteer program. Those who have served in the U.S. Military (including the Guard and Reserve), their families and people with disabilities or anyone looking to gain the experience to pursue a career in Human Services are encouraged to apply.
