M:STL- Center for Women in Transition Summer Associate 1
 
 
 
The Center for Women in Transition is a 501 (c) 3 that serves women who are transitioning from the criminal justice system back to their communities and families. The Center was founded in 1997 to reduce recidivism rates of women in jail/prison. Since then, it has served over 2000 women and provided comprehensive support including housing, mentoring, case management, employment and life skills classes, referrals to addiction, mental and medical health services, and basic necessities such as food cards, bus passes, toiletries and clothing. The Summer Associates member will: conduct research around evidence based/best practices in regards to employment readiness programming, recovery housing options, and group mentoring models; conduct introductory interviews with model housing and employment programs; generate community outreach presentations specific to building relationships with potential employers and community partners; and generate a prospect list.

Member Duties : The Program Evaluation and Development VISTA will advance the Center for Women in Transition’s vision of becoming a leader in evidence-based care by researching, developing, and implementing evidence-based programming for the Center. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, the Center will better understand and implement evidence based/best practices for major areas of programming including employment readiness programming, recovery house options, and group mentoring models. These programs will improve our women’s well-being and likelihood of financial stability and security.
