Community Engagement Coordinator

Our Neighbors’ Table (ONT) is the leading organization fighting hunger in 12 communities in northeastern Massachusetts. Our services include a weekly meal, and weekly markets filled with fresh, nutritious foods. In 2018, ONT declared Amesbury a hunger-free community. ONT is now on track to do the same in three more communities – Newburyport, Salisbury, and Merrimac – by the end of 2020. As ONT’s VISTA member, you have a chance to be an integral part of this movement by building enthusiasm, support and community recognition for the fight against hunger. ONT is a small grassroots organization working on the north shore of Massachusetts, 45 minutes north of Boston and an hour away from the mountains of New Hampshire. Every year, ONT engages over 800 volunteers in 32,000 hours of service. ONT’s VISTA member will help support this key resource for our rapidly growing nonprofit. The VISTA’s projects will include developing training and screening tools for volunteers, recruiting leadership volunteers, and generally supporting ONT’s volunteer engagement model. In addition, the VISTA member will focus on generating opportunities for groups, organizations, and individuals from the community at large to help fight hunger. Projects will include creating marketing materials, building awareness of ONT’s mission, and coordinating ONT’s presence at community events. The VISTA member will collaborate with every member of ONT’s 10-person staff, and be an active part of the ONT Development Team (responsible for fundraising, grant writing, special events, marketing and communications, social media presence, and volunteer management). ONT’s VISTA member will gain concrete experience at this innovative organization. ONT values personal development, hands-on training, and networking as a part of this VISTA experience. This is a dynamic position that will include interaction with the public, donors, volunteers and clients through phone, email, and face to face communication.
