Elizabethtown - ECHOS Job Readiness - CCNYPA

The VISTA will partner with the Elizabethtown College’s Center for Civic Engagement, Elizabethtown Community and Housing Outreach Services (ECHOS), and the Elizabethtown Area HUB (EHUB) to decrease the number of families and individuals experiencing poverty in Elizabethtown. This will be achieved by increasing collaboration and engagement of community EUIB partners related to job readiness at a newly established community services building (Community Place on Washington) in Elizabethtown. A new computer lab at Community Place on Washington will be utilized to offer a package of services intended to move job seekers to employment. These services will include career counseling, job search skills, computer skills and Adult Education programs. The VISTA will establish a liaison between Elizabethtown College, ECHOS at the Community Place on Washington, Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce, Elizabethtown HUB and local employers. Campus Compact of New York and Pennsylvania VISTAs (CCNYPA*VISTAs) are part of a VISTA cohort of 40 members placed at higher ed. institutions across PA and NY to build campus-community partnerships. Professional development opportunities, including specialized workshops and retreats, and support to the VISTA cohort will be provided throughout the year of service.
