The Oaks Academy seeks candidates that are mission-driven, self-motivated and idea-inspired. Ideal applicants are seeking significant responsibility within a quality learning experience alongside nonprofit professionals. The goal of the VISTA program at The Oaks Academy is to effectively serve families in poverty by creating systems and implementing strategies to provide low-income students with a quality education - by raising of funds for their need-based scholarships, optimizing organizational systems, and communicating about our mission to new audiences. Previous Oaks Academy VISTAs have gone on to their careers of choice in communications, fundraising and research due to their robust experiences at The Oaks. The Oaks Academy was founded to serve children of diverse backgrounds. Approximately 50% of students’ families are low income, 25% are middle income, and 25% are high income with about 40% who are White, 40% who are Black, and 20% who are Asian, Latino or Multiracial. The Oaks Academy distributes scholarships to over 75% of enrolled families, which equates to over $3 million in need-based scholarships. The Oaks Academy currently serves 870 Pre-Kindergarten through 8th-grade students at three school locations in Indianapolis urban neighborhoods. Students benefit from a Christ-centered, classical education: humanities-based, interdisciplinary curriculum filled with Latin lessons, nature walks, and recitations. The Oaks has three campuses, each in beautiful downtown Indianapolis neighborhoods. You will be close to the Monon trail, multiple city parks, and all the amenities of exciting downtown Indianapolis.
