The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization in Northeast Ohio having provided 57 million meals in 2018 to hungry people in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland and Richland counties. Our mission is to ensure that everyone in our communities has the nutritious food they need every day. We do this through both food distribution and SNAP outreach efforts. The Food Bank operates a community food distribution center, providing food and other critical grocery products annually to more than 940 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for the elderly and other nonprofit agencies. We also prepare nutritious meals in our Food Bank Kitchen and take hundreds of calls each day in our help center, where we refer low income callers to local agencies and sign-up eligible Northeast Ohioans for SNAP and other benefits.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will help enable long-term fundraising and communications growth for the organization so it can meet the evolving needs of hungry families, children, and seniors in Northeastern Ohio. The VISTA project will directly expand and diversify funding sources, while building capacity for future growth through improved and well-documented development operations. The project will build capacity to advocate for our clients through collecting client stories, working with the online grant, and expanding our media contact base. The VISTA member will also assist in the planning and execution of our 40th anniversary fundraising event in 2019.
