King Kennedy Community Center (KKCC) is in Ravenna, Ohio in the McElrath Park Community and serves as a community resource hub. These resources are motivators for these individuals to achieve their potential of becoming educated and well rounded. KKCC’s mission is to better the Portage County Community by working with residents to improve overall living conditions. It is a short drive from Akron, Cleveland, as well as Kent, home of Kent State University. KKCC is influenced by multiple cultures and concepts due to the proximity of various college campuses. KKCC offers numerous benefits, opportunities for personal and professional growth and development. The Summer Program Associate will have the opportunity to network with Family and Community Services, Inc. agencies, as well as other local and county agencies throughout the service term. The Summer Program Associate will see how their work positively affects children and youth. The ideal Summer Program Associate will have some experience, preferably at least 1 year, working with youth in a social and educational environment. The SA should demonstrate the ability to engage youth in daily activities while being able to create lesson plans through age appropriate recreational activities. The SA should have experience in teamwork, team building skills, organizational skills, advanced interpersonal communication skills, conflict resolution skills. The Summer Program Associate must be available for a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends and have reliable transportation.

Member Duties : The VISTA will be responsible for helping the staff plan, implement, and assess programs designed to build social, emotional and age-appropriate educational activities on topics such as suicide prevention and substance abuse prevention. The SA will collaborate with community partners to help develop programming, assist in seeking monetary and in-kind donations for program resources.The SA will also assist with breakfast and lunch daily; chaperone all field trips; help youth develop skills, teamwork and sportsmanship; assist staff monitor the safety and health of campers; assist youth with indoor and outdoor skill building activities; use group management skills to engage youth in daily activities; and act as a mentor to model effective personal communication skills and behaviors. The SA will communicate with parents, community partners, and other outside liaisons. They will assist with data entry and reporting. Must be proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
