Building Community Capacity
Erie and Ottawa Counties are on Lake Erie with many opportunities for one to lead a healthy lifestyle such as boating, fishing, water parks, and visiting Cedar Point Amusement Park, etc. The board has created a community addiction task force and meetings have begun to establish recovery housing for men in Erie County, a Common Pleas Drug Court, Family Dependency Treatment Court and restructure jail services. The member would assist the Board with these endeavors.

Member Duties : Coordinate communications between and among Task Force members concerning the work of the Task Force; Ensure that the task force is kept up to date about the action items of the Board’s strategic plan and the Sequential Intercept Mapping activities for both counties. Research and write grant applications in support of local efforts to combat the opioid epidemic; Research possible federal, state, and local grants to support community efforts; Maintain reporting requirements for grants awarded. Develop community outreach opportunities to combat opioid addiction; Assist with implementation of public awareness efforts designed to engage and inform the community; Work with media outlets to ensure consistent awareness efforts are in place, including social media; Develop and maintain a board database for emergency responder calls, hospital visits, detox admissions, etc. for a comprehensive community database used to guide services, treatment and program development
