Mahoning County Community Planning and Education VISTA

The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board is charged with planning, evaluating and promoting financial support for mental health and addiction services within the county. The goal of this project is to strengthen county and community efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Mahoning County, Ohio. This project will encompass work on the County Hub, including organization, recruiting, conducting research, searching and applying for grant opportunities. This will require working with the Coalition for a Drug Free Mahoning County as well as other treatment and prevention agencies within the county.

Member Duties : The Community Planning and Education VISTA for Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board will be responsible for Assisting with organizing and implementing the County Hub to Combat Opioid Addiction, finding and recruiting members; research and write educational materials and paper related to opioid addiction; research and write grants to support the County Hub and their efforts; develop, schedule, present and evaluate at outreach opportunities for the County Hub; develop and implement a Peer Recovery Supporter plan to recruit, engage and provide ongoing training; provide information to the community in person and by phone, attend meetings with community partners working to address the opioid issue and assist the Executive Director and Associate Director with community planning activities for mental health and addiction services in Mahoning County, Ohio.
