Opioid County HUB Collaborator
The Paint Valley ADAMH Board was created in 1967 to ensure the availability of community-based alcohol, drug addiction and mental health services. The ADAMH Board does not directly provide services, but contracts with a network of public and private health care agencies to treat persons in need. The mission is “to positively impact our community by supporting mental health and recovery.” The Paint Valley ADAMH Board has a vision to ensure that individuals and families affected by mental illness and/or addiction have access to a high-quality Recovery Oriented System of Care. Through strong community partnerships, the Paint Valley ADAMH Board will continue to lead and advance efforts to ensure Ohio’s communities are healthy, safe, and drug-free, while assuring accountability and effectiveness in client care. The core values of the Paint Valley ADAMH Board are to focus on clients and families, ensure timely access to care, promote healthy, safe, and drug-free communities, prioritize accountable and outcome-driven financing, and to sustain a locally managed system of care. This project will assist the ADAMH Board in strengthening the county and community efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Fayette, Highland, Pickaway, Pike, and Ross Counties. It will also work to partner with county drug coalitions to fulfill the mandate for county Hubs. This project will provide data on strategies to improve the lives of those impacted by the Opioid Crisis, as well as the effects the crisis has had on the community.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA will learn about the County Hub and member organizations by attending meetings to know about the structure, activities, roles of hubs, and general topics covered in meetings. The VISTA Member will coordinate communications between & among Hub members concerning the work of the Hub and assist in building partnerships with local organizations and engaging new Hub members. The VISTA will survey community partners about educational needs related to all aspects of the opioid epidemic, as well as compile survey results into a report that can be shared with County Hub organizations, which later through trainings and activities will be shared with the community. The VISTA will interact with the Coroner’s office and Health Departments to gather information on opioid related overdose deaths and use it in the development of work with focus groups to determine the impact of the Opioid crisis.
