The Well Community Tool Shed VISTA

The Well CDC’s Restoring Housing initiative exists to help LMI individuals in the Middlebury neighborhood obtain healthy rentals and begin pathways towards home ownership. We rehabilitate blighted properties to quality standards and, in an effort to meet the community where they are at, rent homes to LMI individuals at affordable rates. We have a partnership with a local organization to support our tenant families by providing wrap-around services, such as job placement, family planning, and connection to basic needs. These rental and home ownership opportunities are seen as an imperative first step to increase economic mobility, graduation rates, civic engagement, and safety for the Middlebury neighborhood. Our VISTA project is two-fold. The first responsibility will be implementation of the Tool Shed and Home Maintenance Classes. This includes securing additional funding, increasing outreach/partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and mobilization of community support. The second responsibility is to create a comprehensive mapping system of the Middlebury neighborhood through GIS and data analysis.
