ShareCorps - Heart Reach Neighborhood Ministries

Heart Reach Neighborhood Ministries is a faith-based 501c3 organization that operates three community centers, two in Youngstown, Ohio and one in Campbell, Ohio. All are located in low income communities and offer emergency assistance, commodities distributions (food, clothing, school supplies, winter clothing for children, etc.), daily programming for children (after school, during school and summer), and teen leadership and workforce readiness training. We also coordinate the largest summer feeding program for children in the greater Youngstown area. We partner with numerous local churches and organizations to meet the needs of children. One of the biggest causes of hunger in our area is limited access. We provide food for children daily, coordinate summer and weekend meal programs, as well as partner with other agencies to promote good nutrition. Assistance is needed to increase our volunteer force for this effort.

Member Duties : The VISTAs will be designing and implementing a volunteer and partner recruitment, training and retention strategy that increases human capital, commodity resources, monetary donations while enhancing current programming. The VISTAs will: work with local churches and communities to increase volunteer support; ensure food access increases for low income families and children by increasing available food for existing food pantries and increasing the number of partner organizations willing to act as Summer Food Service Program host sites; and work with staff and volunteers to expand strategies for fund development to support programs and services that increase access to food for children.
