Metro West Fall 2019 VISTA

The Metro West project will focus on building capacity for affordable housing, financial literacy, and the development of economic opportunities in and around our service area. MWCDO serves three unique neighborhoods; Clark-Fulton (including La Villa Hispana), the Stockyards and Brooklyn Centre. MWCDO requests to participate as a VISTA member sub-site to build capacity in several programmatic areas focused on economic, housing and community development. The VISTA member will engage in research, planning, development, partner-building, and outreach tasks that relate to expanding homeownership opportunities and lowering the cost burden of housing for La Villa residents. The VISTA member will conduct research and engage in outreach to assist residents in improving their financial literacy skills while also identifying potential economic opportunities in and around the Metro West service area. The VISTA member will also assist in general placemaking efforts by actively engaging in door knocking campaigns, attending block club meetings, and working an informational booth at La Placita, an annual Hispanic themed pop-up open air market held by MWCDO and community partners in La Villa Hispana.
