Famicos Foundation Youth Development VISTA

Famicos Foundation’s Pathway to Success project will work with educators and school administrators in the schools in our neighborhood(s) to connect community volunteers that can assist educators with their day to day work in the classroom which targets students who may need additional assistance. We will target retired educators and professionals that will be willing to donate a few hours a day to assist teachers in the classroom at least 3 days a week. Pathways to Success will target students attending Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) to help increase attendance, test scores, graduation rates, and literacy. We are going to explore barriers families encounter that prevent a student from attending school which hinders the success of the student, ultimately resulting in a poor report card for the student and the school. We will seek out partner organizations that can assist with providing resources for students and parents to increase student success. This program will also help guide and provide leadership for existing neighborhood programs like the Hough Reads, Center for Inspired Learning program, and the Circle Scholars program just to name a few. There are several programs that target youth in our neighborhood and our goal is to make sure that parents know what programming exists and how to connect their children to it. This overarching program will connect and funnel resources and volunteers to other programs, too, to increase the impact of all programs in Glenville and Hough.
