Building Bridges to Careers Job Development VISTA

BB2C seeks to: 1) increase employment opportunities and 2) increase and maintain assets for individuals. A BB2C VISTA will foster new capacity for students and residents to find employment career pathways, build businesses, and make new products all with the intention of alleviating poverty and building economic vitality in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The VISTA will develop and implement an outreach strategy to increase volunteer recruitment for mentors; to attract businesses willing to provide internships, problem/scenario examples for youth, job-shadowing opportunities, and, display at the Family Career Awareness Day; and, to increase the number of youth and adults interested in launching new businesses. The VISTA will research new partners to enhance BB2C’s service delivery, which may include other social service agencies and organizations. Additional activities will be building BB2C’s capacity to find and acquire new resources including grants, but most importantly, new sustainable organizational revenues. These activities provide greater access to career pathways and entrepreneurial opportunities with the express objective of reducing poverty in Washington and surrounding counties.
