ArthurMorgan Community Solutions local food development 2021

Community Solutions seeks to develop a support system for organic farmers in the Miami Valley that will help increase food-related employment opportunities. Through Agraria, we have been able to provide affordable, long-term farmland leases for farmers, offer educational programming on regenerative ag, and partner with The Nature Conservancy and Tecumseh Land Trust to conserve and restore 80 acres of farmland, wetland, and stream corridor. The VISTA will support farmers who rent land at Agraria and other organic farmers, meeting with them to gauge their needs and develop ways to enhance their chances of success. This will include development of a plan for an on-farm distribution center for organic seed, feed and soil amendments as well as an herbalism business, grant writing to support business development, development of educational events, and organization of volunteer groups to assist with on-farm efforts. Our goal is to ensure the farmers renting land at Agraria, as well as other farmers, have the material and community support they need to succeed.
