2019 Habitat Summer Home Repair VISTA - Baraboo, WI
 
 
 
Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Nearly 20% of WI residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. The 37 WI affiliates are addressing the need for affordable housing by partnering with families to build, rehab or repair homes. The HFH WI VISTA program’s goal is to develop sustainable home repair programs to preserve housing and help more families. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Serving Columbia, Iowa and Sauk Counties, Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin River Area has its main offices in charming, historic Baraboo, home of the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo, and located near beautiful Devil’s Lake State Park. HFH Wisconsin River Area has built over 50 homes since its founding, and is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Member Duties : Review available outreach materials. Create or update as needed. Explore need to have materials translated into other languages. 2) Identify potential outreach opportunities – door-to-door, existing community events, senior centers, etc. 3) Attend events and/or recruit others to attend. Train volunteers on the program and outreach strategies as needed. 4) Connect with homeowners. Answer questions. Help them complete applications. 5) Follow up on leads. Work with staff to schedule site visits and projects. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection may be made before deadline date posted.**
 
Program Benefits : Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend ,  Living Allowance ,  Housing: $150 per month towards housing ,  Education award upon successful completion of service ,  Training .
