Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Nearly 20% of WI residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. The 37 WI affiliates are addressing the need for affordable housing by partnering with families to build, rehab or repair homes. The HFH WI VISTA program’s goal is to develop sustainable home repair programs to preserve housing and help more families. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Established in 2012, HFH WI provides training and technical support to help affiliates reach their goals and provide home ownership opportunities and home repair programs to Wisconsin families. HFH WI is located in Milwaukee, WI. Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is home to a thriving local music scene, world-class art museum, and arts and culture festivals all summer long.

Member Duties : As the Summer Home Repairs VISTA, you develop and execute a plan to complete at least six home repair projects. Activities include: 1) Connect with interested affiliates and local organizations such as Departments on Aging and Community Action Programs. 2) Evaluate and identify preferred location/locations for projects. 3) Conduct community outreach to find homeowners. 4) Work with local organizations and affiliates to schedule projects. 5) Help with volunteer recruitment. 6) Travel to work sites using the Habitat van. Help staff and volunteers complete repairs projects. 7) Ensure proper procedures – volunteer waivers, scope of work contracts, etc – are followed and documented. 8) Take photographs and document the builds. Use photos and stories to create marketing and PR materials. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection may be made before deadline date posted.**
 
Program Benefits : Living Allowance ,  Education award upon successful completion of service ,  Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend ,  Training ,  Housing: $50 per month towards housing ,  Stipend .
